College of the Arts (COTA) 2021 Intake – Application Guide
The College of the Arts (Cota) is an institution of arts education in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. It employs 39 lecturers full-time and 75 on part-time basis.
Cota was established by citizens of German heritage in 1971 as a Whites-only State Conservatory of Music. In the mid-80s drama and visual arts were added to the Conservatory’s programs, and in 1990 it was renamed College for the Arts.
The seven full-time degree programs currently offered are African Performing Arts, Product Development and Design, Fashion Design, Television Production, Radio Production, New Media Design, and Music and Sound Production. Tertiary programs are offered as three-year courses of studies. COTA’s leitmotiv is “Lifelong learning through the arts”.

MATS
Grade 12/NSSCO (ordinary level), 23 Points, C in English or mature age entry 23 years + 3 years proven experience
NMD
Grade 12/NSSCO (ordinary level), 23 Points, C in English or mature age entry 23 years + 3 years proven experience
FD AND VA
Grade 12/NSSCO (ordinary level), 23 Points, E in English or mature age entry 23 years + 3 years proven experience
PA
Grade 12/NSSCO (ordinary level), 23 Points, D in English or mature age entry 23 years + 3 years proven experience
MUSIC
Grade 12/NSSCO (ordinary level), 23 Points, C in English or mature age entry 23 years + 3 years proven experience
Grade 5 (e.g. Trinity, ABRSM, UNISA) in any instrument and Grade 3 (e.g. Trinity, ABRSM, UNISA) or equavalent knowledge in Music Theory
FD,VA, Music, Dance and Drama: In extra ordinary circumstances applications can be accepted from persons over 19 years of age who demonstrate exceptional potential.
Candidates that do not meet the above requirements will be allowed to access the Bridging programme to qualify for a Diploma in the following year.
COTA 2021 INTAKE – APPLICATION GUIDELINES
This form serves as an APPLICATION FOR SELECTION into the Diploma Courses. All applicants will be informed by SMS or telephonically about the start of the selection procedure. Please submit all applications as a hard copy at COTA Town Campus or KCAC Campus, in Windhoek.
COTA Application Fees 2021
N$ 100 application fee is applicable, to be paid cash when submitting. Only applications with proof of payment will be considered.
Application forms from outside Windhoek can be sent to the PoBox 2963, Windhoek (successful selected candidates will pay the N$
100 application fee upon Registration).
INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETION OF THIS FORM
This form must be completed in FULL and all questions must be answered in BLOCK CAPITAL letters. This application must be accompanied by certified copies of Academic Records and of your passport or National Identity Document.
Please attach a passport photo in the space provided for (upper right-hand side corner, front page). Students with foreign qualifications must ensure that qualifications are evaluated by NQA prior to submission.
