TECHNICIAN COMPONENTS

Location: Husab Mine, Swakopmund

Reports to Engineer Reliability

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide technical and analytical support to the front-end activity by reviewing Component related repair schedules, vendor performance, supply chain reliability, cost of repairs, performance and reliability issues. The job is also responsible to plan, prioritize, arrange and ensure repair/overhaul of mining equipment components and plant components.

Key Performance Areas:

Carry out field data collection as required to ensure component data records remain up to date.

Provide technical advice to the maintenance and operations teams related to equipment and machinery performance issues and condition monitoring results pertaining to reliability of units. Oil sampling result trending inclusive.

Support Planner and Reliability teams in identification and implementation of improvement initiatives.

Identify and report equipment and machinery condition and repair status to ensure availability as per required placement schedules or equipment forecast downtimes.

Liaise with OEM’s in good time to ensure component availability, quality and correct replacement type is ensured at the right time.

Participates in Parts & Rotables procurement activities for parts/exchanges by responding to Supply Chain questions and enquiries.

Evaluates previously exchanged or repaired units to determine eligibility for warranty.

Develop and monitor inventory budgetary information and compile component repair budget.

Maintains beneficial relationships with other disciplines.

Provides technical reports and presentations that are timely and to a high standard.

Contain costs and strive towards cost reductions by minimizing maintenance downtime and avoids equipment and machinery failures.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge and skills and remains up to date with international standards.

Adhere to all Safety, Health, Environment and Radiation standards and procedures of the Company.

Requirements and experience:

Recognized Trade Diploma/Vocational Certificate in relevant engineering field with N4 in related engineering discipline.

3-5 Years’ experience in the engineering discipline within a heavy industrial environment.

Additional minimum 2 years SAP PM based planning experience.

Experience in the application of reliability improvement methods including practical experience in equipment/machine rebuilds and/or diagnostics.

Experience in equipment component assembly and quality control of such processes.

Long term storage of equipment components – quality management.

Equipment rotable process management and forecasting of same.

Condition monitoring methods basics.

Basic OEM systems experience such as VIMS, EQPCARE, ET and/or CENSE.

Warranty management – standard terms and conditions.

Valid Code C Driver’s licence.
