Namibia University of Science and Technology Master of Sustainable Energy
What is Master of Sustainable Energy?
This program typically focuses on global problems that relate to energy supplies and the worldwide dilemma of climate change. These students will consider the use of energy conversion technologies and learn about the systems used for enhancing renewable energy resources.
Entry Requirement
The Master of Sustainable Energy Systems programme seeks to recruit suitably qualified students who are capable of benefitting from, contributing to, and successfully completing the programme. Students will be considered for admission into the programme if they have: • A Bachelor’s degree (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, processing, Agriculture engineering, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 8 from a recognised institution, or a pre-NQF professional or any other engineering field assessed by the admission committee and (Applied) Physics or a field closely related to these programmes. • Also other professionals who may prove long term track experience in the energy industry and must have completed Bachelor’s degrees (Hons) in Economics, Social Sciences, Environmental studies, or any equivalent as approved by the admission committee. • Demonstrate proficiency in English communication at post graduate level, as demonstrated by the fact that the undergraduate degree was done in the medium of English. If the undergraduate degree was not obtained in the medium of English, then the applicant will be required to show proficiency in the medium of English through achieving at least band 7 of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or an equivalent. Final selection of candidates will be approved by the Postgraduate Studies Committee.

What can you do with a masters in energy?
MS in Energy Management graduates are qualified to step into a variety of mid-level roles in the oil, gas, renewables, and electricity industries. With this degree in hand, you can be a manager, analyst, researcher, or consultant.
What is Masters sustainability?
A Master’s in Sustainability prepares a person for a number of different careers in the areas of environmental science and conservation. People may focus on environmental policy, natural resource management or the intersection of sustainability and business among other disciplines.
What are three examples of sustainable energy?
Sustainable energy includes all renewable energy sources, such as hydroelectricity, biomass, geothermal, wind, wave, tidal and solar energies. Only wind, wave, tidal and solar energies, which are currently utilising advanced polymer composites, will be considered in this chapter and in Chapter 20.
What is energy management masters?
Master in Energy Management programs are designed to prepare individuals to apply engineering principles and technical skills to help support professionals engaged in the development of sustainable energy-efficient practices.
What is sustainable energy engineering?
Sustainable Energy means finding clean renewable energy sources that can be reused and renewed through modern technologies. Think in terms of solar panels, wind and water turbines, geothermal energy, and so on.
Is MS in renewable energy worth?
A masters program in renewable energy is a postgraduate degree program whose aim is to help in meeting challenges facing the world today- production of renewable energy. This program equips students with sound knowledge required to increase the production percentage of renewable energies in the worldwide energy mix.
What do energy managers do?
Energy managers perform audits to evaluate energy use, costs, or efficiency initiatives. They monitor and analyze energy consumption, and sometimes water consumption as well. … They review plans for future projects to determine their feasibility and energy requirements.
Are solar panels really sustainable?
Solar energy is naturally more sustainable than fossil fuel energy sources and is more environmentally sustainable. It converts the sun’s energy into electrical energy and makes use of the greatest, most sustainable resource on the planet, sunlight.
Is sustainability a good career?
Sustainability can lead to many career paths, such as sustainability specialist, environmental engineer, sustainability manager, and sustainability director. These and other job opportunities provide workers with the chance to positively impact the environment, people’s quality of life, and future generations.
Do you need a masters in sustainability?
While grad school certainly isn’t required for a successful career in sustainability, it’s an important path to consider (again, after you’ve worked for a few years): Most professionals working in the field either have a master’s degree or have already had about 10 years of highly regarded work experience.
Why should I study renewable energy?
The combustion of fossil fuels for energy results in a significant amount of greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming. Most sources of renewable energy result in little to no emissions, even when considering the full life cycle of the technologies. Renewable energy emits no or low air pollutants.
What does a sustainable engineer do?
As a sustainability engineer, you design and develop products, buildings, and systems to meet certain sustainability specifications or certifications, such as the BREEAM standards for sustainable building or LEED building certifications.
Where does an energy engineer work?
Energy Engineers design programs or systems that make buildings or businesses more energy efficient. They may work on the design, building, or remodeling phases of construction. They may specialize in one or more systems, such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, air quality, or others.
