Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) First-Ever Doctoral Degrees Awarded – 2018
Dr Hamunyela is the Acting Head of the Informatics Department in the Faculty of Computing and Informatics. She joined the Department in 2010 as a Junior Lecturer, moved up to a Lecturer position after completing her Master of Information Technology at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2012. Her dissertation is titled “A Framework for Evaluating Health Information Systems in Namibia towards Integration.”
“I am pleased to be the first Namibian and first female to receive a PhD degree at NUST. Only through hard work, can one achieve a milestone such as this. This also marks the beginning of rigorous academic work to grow and stay relevant in the profession,” Hamunyela said.
Dr Jude Osakwe
Dr Osakwe obtained a Master of Science in Information Technology from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria in 2014. During his tenure as a part-time Lecturer at NUST, he published nine journal articles and five conference papers as part of his PhD work. His dessertation is titled “A Framework for the Adoption of Mobile Learning Technology for Namibian Public High Schools.”
“The realisation of this doctoral degree is indeed a great achievement and a call for more research work. I am honoured to be part of such a historical moment at the Institution. I am passionate about the application of technology in education at all levels,” he said.
