1. SCHOOL PREAMBLE
Welwitchia University exists to provide professional education in health sciences, economics and management sciences to Namibian and international students. We take a unique and innovative approach to teaching that helps students connect with the subject matter they need to master.
Through personalized and focussed teaching processes, our students will develop the tools/skills they need for ongoing success in their fields of study. WU’s success will depend on the identify the needs of students, attending to them and truly helping them to achieve it – WU does not succeed unless its students succeed.
Mission of WU
The key mission of WU is to develop and equip professionally qualified persons for the health and business management needs of Namibia and SADC through academic exposure by means of theoretical and practical on-job training.
Keys to Success
Developing methods of approaching subjects that helps students get their minds around challenging concepts.
Creating excellent word of mouth promotion of services to clients who sell services to other prospective students.
Respond to clients’ needs and diagnosing where their understanding of concepts is breaking down.
2. ATTENDANCE OF LECTURERS AND CLINICAL PLACEMENTS
All the students in the Clara Barton Nursing School are required to register as students with the Health Professionals Council of Namibia as student nurses. This registration together with the enrolment for the nursing programme gives them the right to attend lectures and clinical placement of the University.
Attendance of lectures must be rated at 80 – 100% and for clinical placement is 100% at all times. This attendance shall enable them to register with the HPCNA as professional nurses by the end of their
training.
CLARABARTON SCHOOL OF NURSING
The key objectives of the school are:
to provide professional education in health sciences and social development, economics and management sciences;
to significantly contribute towards the reduction in the shortage of health practitioners in Namibia
facilitate socio-economic development, educational and personal growth within the Namibian Framework of Vision 2030, NDP4 and Population Policy
