BRIEF HISTORY

The African Leadership Institute was founded to equip and develop leaders to transform Africa. We believe that Africa should solve its own challenges (like corruption, crime, poverty, HIV/Aids, unemployment, lack of specialized skills, inferiority, passivity, economic freedom, etc.) We believe Namibia can set an example for Africa and Africa become the hope for the rest of the world.

The African Leadership Institute (ALI) inspires and enables Africans to lead transformation, to equip leaders with the power to raise productivity and the power to transform communities. We at ALI understand the principles towards prosperity, the legacy our president has committed himself to.

Based on our understanding of leadership and more than 20 years of experience in training, we offer educational programs that are unique and specifically designed to meet the needs within the Southern African context. We offer value-based leadership development programs to emerging and established leaders from the business sector, church and public sector.

African Leadership Institute is accredited with the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) and registered with the Namibia Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and Namibia Training Authority (NTA). Our NQA accredited academic programs include a Certificate in Transformational Leadership (Level 5) and a Diploma in Transformational Leadership (Level 6). Our non-academic programs include Marriage Seminars, Teambuilding Training and Leadership Training for Namibian youth. Our basic philosophy is a holistic approach to leadership development (focusing on both human and social capital) that inspires and enables individuals to lead transformation in themselves, their families, teams, organizations and communities.

The training campus of African Leadership Institute is The Rock Lodge. Situated in the Okahandja district, 85 km from Windhoek and 12 km from Okahandja on the B2 road to Swakopmund, The Rock Lodge offers the ideal island situation in which students can focus on their development as leaders.

The campus offers sophisticated conference facilities, accommodation and the splendid solitude of the Namibian bush towards an effective and conducive learning environment. The campus rooms are spacious, comfortable and conveniently located and the training facilities include 2 fully equipped conference venues, as well as 2 further break-away rooms. Adding to this, the 2500 hectare farm with a variety of game (zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, eland, gemsbok, kudu, red hartebeest, springbok, and a variety of birdlife), swimming pool and a unique prayer mountain with 12 prayer stations, offers students opportunities to be refreshed in the midst of an intensive training process.

Training at ALI is also registered with the Namibian Training Authority (NTA). This means that companies, who are responsible to pay NTA levies, can reclaim those fees from the NTA (conditions apply).
