Namibia University of Science and Technology Master of Environmental Engineering
What is Master of Environmental Engineering?
A Master program in environmental engineering will guide you through some of the pressing environmental issues such as sustainable and renewable energy generation, climate change, waste management, drinking water provision or aging of urban infrastructure.
Entry Requirement
The Master of Environmental Engineering: seeks to recruit suitably qualified candidates who are capable of benefitting from, contributing to, and successfully completing the programme. To be considered for admission to this programme, applicants must: • Hold a Bachelors of Engineering degree (e.g. agricultural, chemical, civil, electrical, industrial mechanical, metallurgy, mining, process etc. to mention just a few) or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 8, from a recognised institution; or a pre-NQF professional or four-year Bachelor degree, with a professional project or research component from a recognised institution and evaluated as appropriate by the Department. • Demonstrate proficiency in English communication at post graduate level, as demonstrated by the fact that the undergraduate degree was done in the medium of English. If the undergraduate degree was not obtained in the medium of English, then the applicant will be required to show proficiency in the medium of English through achieving at least band 7 of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or an equivalent. Final selection of candidates will be approved by the Postgraduate Studies Committee.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do environmental engineers do?
Environmental engineers use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. They work to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control.
Is environmental engineering a good career?
Environmental engineers have great responsibilities. We all want to find jobs and develop careers which are meaningful, rewarding, and fulfilling. It’s not always easy to find such a job, but environmental engineering seems to fit the description very well.
Is an environmental masters worth it?
Graduate degree in environmental science is not any worth of money. Rather than you will become the environmentalist and will have the great knowledge on our environment. You can focused on different field of environment. There is lot of opportunities having the Degree on Environmental Science.
Is environmental engineering a useless degree?
From a professional standpoint, environmental engineering isn’t useless. It is over-rated. Environmental engineering is a very narrow niche of civil engineering.
Is it hard to get a job in environmental science?
Jobs in the environmental sector are typically very competitive and can require specialised study and significant work experience. However, the sector is growing rapidly, and there are a number of careers, such as environmental engineer or scientist where demand is extremely high.
Is environmental engineering hard?
As the intersection of Environmental Science and Engineering fundamentals, Environmental Engineering is certainly not an easy major. It’s considered one of the easier engineering majors that you can study though, because it’s not as focused on advanced math and physics.
Is environmental engineering the same as civil engineering?
Civil engineers create the structures, ranging from bridges and roads to airports and water treatment facilities, that society uses on a daily basis for living, working and transportation. Environmental engineers develop technology and processes to solve problems in the natural environment.
How happy are environmental engineers?
As it turns out, environmental engineers rate their career happiness 2.9 out of 5 stars which puts them in the bottom 23% of careers.
Should I study environmental engineering?
A lot hinges on the work that environmental engineers do. That means the job has to get done and it has to be right. If you have perseverance to carry a project out to completion, environmental engineering is a great career: a job well done and for a good purpose is very satisfying.
What do environmental engineers study in college?
What do environmental engineers do? Environmental engineers apply their broad understanding of engineering and the sciences, such as chemistry, biology, soil science and more, to improve human and ecological health through impactful engineering applications.
Which engineering is best for future?
- Aerospace Engineering.
- Chemical Engineering.
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
- Petroleum Engineering.
- Telecommunication Engineering.
- Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
- Robotics Engineering.
- Biochemical Engineering.
What does an environmental engineer do on a daily basis?
Environmental engineers research environmental issues in the area and create plans to decrease the effects of that problem on the environment. On a daily basis, they collect samples for inspection, develop strategies for new structures or improving established systems, and monitor regulation practices at job sites.
Do environmental engineers work outside or inside?
The type of job environmental engineers have often determines whether they work inside or outside. However, most work inside a majority of the time. Environmental engineers work in a variety of settings because of the nature of the tasks they do.
Is environmental science in demand?
Employment of environmental scientists and specialists is projected to grow 8 percent from 2020 to 2030, about as fast as the average for all occupations. About 9,400 openings for environmental scientists and specialists are projected each year, on average, over the decade.
Do environmental scientists travel?
Environmental scientists do work in a lab most of the time, but since they work on special projects, they often travel to complete fieldwork as well.
Is Masters in environmental engineering hard?
That being said, Environmental Engineering can be about as hard as Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering if you are not interested in the courses offered.
Is environmental engineering math heavy?
Maths is very much essential for all engineering specializations in general. In environmental engineering, it is widely used for modelling which can explain and predict various biological, biochemical, and chemical phenomenon in water and wastewater treatment, air pollution, solid waste management, etc.
