Rundu Vocational Training Centre Application FAQs
What is Vocational Education and Training?
Vocational Education and Training (VET) is that part of tertiary education and training which provides training in industry-specific and job related technical skill areas. It covers a large number of careers and industries like industrial trades, office work, retail, hospitality and technology. Individuals can also be trained in part qualifications or ‘skills sets’.
Why should I consider a technical or vocational career?
Because not all people are college/technikon/university bound, many individuals find technical and vocational training a perfect career option. Technical and vocational training provides a more meaningful option to individuals not interested in a career that requires enrolling at higher education institutions, and as such gives prospective trainees the ability to find purpose and focus on something that will matter to them.
Can I articulate into further qualifications with a technical and vocational qualification?
Yes. Vocational Education and Training qualifications can be earned to up to level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework. Pathways exist for graduates to pursue further training towards earning diploma and degree courses, later in life.
What are the entry requirements for admission to courses offered?
The entry requirement for most courses is a Grade 10 certificate. However, for some courses, applicants are required to have good grades in Mathematics and Science subjects.
How do I apply for admission to EVTC?
Other than quality training services, what makes EVTC a leading-edge training institution?
Our centre’s rich history of high quality training services, strict discipline, exciting extra-curricular programmes and stimulating campus life make it an attractive training destination for prospective trainees from all corners of the country. Prospective trainees can participate in a range of activities, including sport clubs and trainee societies.
The course I am interested in is not offered at EVTC. What advice can you give me?
The EVTC continues to explore all avenues to allow it to expand on its current course offerings and we will inform our stakeholders of such expansions, once they materialise. However, the chances are good that the course you are interested in is offered at our sister institutions. We suggest you visit the links section on the main page, or consider the course offerings at other private training institutions as per the following link below on the website of the Namibia Training Authority – http://www.nta.com.na/?page_id=1022
