The 22nd International Fixed Asset Management Forum Southern Africa (AMF-SA) Conference, proudly hosted by the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the University of Namibia (UNAM), took place in Windhoek earlier this month. The event was held under the theme: ‘Innovative Asset Management – The X-Factor in Achieving Excellence!’
At the same event, I-Chain Technologies and ADAPTIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will assist education institutions, including public and private sector, to better manage their fixed assets, space management and to suit their financial and audit frameworks.
Mamijoo Tjejamba, Acting – Deputy Vice Chancellor (NUST), welcomed all to land of the brave and stated that property, plant and equipment (PPE), known as assets, constitute a significant portion of a business and of higher education institutions’ total assets. It is therefore important to keep proper asset inventories, for accuracy in the annual financial statements, including insurance and audit compliance.
She also applauded the partnership that were signed between AdaptIT and I-Chain, a fixed asset management service provider and solutions company, as a contribution to best practice. She challenged conference delegates to produce an Asset Management Best Practice document from the conference, to find solutions in collaboration in order to achieve excellence in asset management.
Adapt IT Education’s Divisional Executive, Luxolo Rubushe, said: “It is perhaps no co-incidence that we are gathered here today in Windhoek, to witness the consummation of our partnership with I-Chain Technologies. AdaptIT and Namibia have a 33-year long history of success and triumph in education technology, the Integrated Tertiary Software (ITS system).
Today, all the universities of Namibia are active users of our ITS Integrator solution. Whether you are an existing ITS Integrator client or not. Whether you are a public or private institution, our solutions are available to resolve areas in a compliant asset register and space management system.”
I-Chain Managing Director, Paul Verheul, pledged that: “With this partnership, the cutting-edge software and systems now on offer, create the perfect solution to suit every department and campus, reducing costs, enabling better asset utilisation, and further extending the life-span and control of assets, which is a definite requirement of every accounting officer.”
Juanita Frans, Chairperson of the conference and Manager of Business Systems and Processes at NUST, confirmed that the conference was a success, with 80 delegates from 24 private and public tertiary institutions present.
They engaged asset, procurement and finance professionals to improve lessons learnt from the past and attempts to comprehend the challenges that lie ahead.
