UNDERGRADUATE QUALIFICATIONS
Science Foundation Programme
Introduction:
The Science Foundation Programme is a one (1) year face-to-face full-time, bridging course aimed at strengthening skills and understanding of former Grade 12 learners in English, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Successful completion of the programme at the level stipulated in the UNAM General Regulations may lead to admission into a number of programmes in the Faculties of Science (including Military Science), Agriculture, Education, and Health Sciences (i.e. nursing and radiography).
Students will be admitted to the programme based on Grade 12 results, as well the successful completion of an Aptitude Test.
The Science Foundation Programme is offered at Oshakati Campus and Khomasdal Campus (Windhoek) only.

Requirements:
Applicants are required to complete an Aptitude Application Form at either the Oshakati or Khomasdal Campus only, between 28 January and 01 February 2019. Application should meet the following requirements:
A minimum of 22 points in five (5) NSSC subjects or equivalent grade 12 qualification, with the following subjects and symbols strictly: English (minimum E), Mathematics (minimum E), Biology (minimum D), and Physical Science (minimum D).
Learners from marginalised communities are encouraged to participate on this programme

English Access Course
Introduction:
The English Access Course focuses on English language skills; mainly reading, speaking, writing and listening. The Course is designed for students who have completed Grade 12 with a minimum of 25 points (in 5 subjects, including English) with an E or D-symbol in English.
These students have reached the minimum required points for admission to UNAM, except the required minimum C grade in English.
The English Access Course is a one (1) year Fulltime course, aimed at bringing the students’ English to par with the minimum requirement for UNAM.

Requirements:
To register for this program, a candidate must hold a valid Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) at ordinary level and NSSC at higher level or equivalent qualification. English is a compulsory subject and should normally be obtained at IGCSE/NSSC (English as a Second Language) grade C or better, or a grade D or better at IGCS/NSSC (English First Language) level. A candidate should obtain a minimum of 25 points on the UNAM Evaluation Point Scale in his/her five best subjects, to be admitted. However, if the minimum of 25 points is obtained, it does not necessarily guarantee admission. Entrance is based on the availability of places within the Department and awarded on the basis of merit. The school reserves the right to interview students before admission. Admission could also be considered for persons who qualify through the Mature Age Entry Scheme upon successful completion of the relevant examinations as set out in the General Regulations of the University. A special application form is available for this purpose.

Note: Annually after registration, every student must furnish the School of Nursing and Public Health with proof of current registration as a student with the Health Professions Council of Namibia.
Duration of Studies:
The minimum duration of study for the programme is four (4) years while the maximum duration of study is six (6) years.

Introduction:
The Bachelor of Science in Public Health (Honours) to be offered by the new School of Public Health in the Faculty of Health Sciences consists of taught courses and practicals at NQF Level 8. The minimum duration of the programme is 4 Years of full-time study and is only based at the Oshakati Campus.

Requirements:
The prospective candidate must:
Have obtained a minimum of 25 points in his/her five (5) best) subjects
Hold a valid Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) (Ordinary or Higher) or a recognized equivalent qualification
Have obtained a minimum C symbol in English if it was taken as a second language at NSSC (O level) or a minimum D symbol in English if it was taken as a first language at NSSC (O level)
In addition to the above, admission to the Bachelor of Science in Public Health (Honours) course requires at least: a C symbol in Mathematics; a C symbol in Biology and a C symbol in Physical Sciences, all on the NSSC (or equivalent)
