Historical farm house
The historical old guest farm in Namibia, was built in colonial style and out of natural stone, is nestled at the foot of the Khomas Highland Mountains and the surrounding African savannah. Before 1908 the area was called ”Otjiho- rongo“ (the place of the kudu). The ranch was situated on the old ox wagon road which formed the main supply route from the coast (Walfish bay) to the inland, called Bay road.
First Guest Farm in Namibia
Düsternbrook is the first guest farm in Namibia, only 45 min from Windhoek (new highway A1 direction Etosha, exit D1499/Okapuka). Our guest farm is perfect for your first or last days in Namibia. On our traditional family owned safari and guest farm (since 1962) overnight and day visitors are welcomed alike. We are open all day and the whole year around.
Private wildlife reserve
Our main attractions are the unique Leopard and Cheetah Drives ”Cats Unlimited“ in a spectacular setting. Furthermore you can enjoy a light lunch, a game drive, a scenic mountain drive in the morning, horse riding with game viewing and also different well-signed hiking trails.
On our guest farm we have an abundant diversity of more than 15 wildlife species, such as giraffe, mountain- and plain zebra, oryx, kudu, the rare sable antilope, cape eland, waterbuck, baboon, steenbok, cheetah, leopard and even Hippo.
Rooms
Our safari lodge is centrally situated in Namibia and an ideal venue not only for your first and last nights in Namibia but also to rest for a few days between the northern and southern parts of your Namibian tour. Guest Farm Düsternbrook is not big.
For the individual traveller (no busses) we offer, in carefully renovated buildings, separate and individually furnished guest rooms. All guest rooms have a comfortable double bed and ensuite bathroom with solar heated showers.

Activities
Düsternbrook Guest Farm near Windhoek is open year-round. Not only for overnight guests but also for day visitors. We offer an attractive, varied, and interesting combination of activities for a few hours. However, you can easily spend a whole day here.
Namibia is a birdwatcher’s paradise and about 160 species have been recorded at Düsternbrook. Many of these birds can be found right around the farmhouse, guest rooms and campground.
In the morning we’ll go into the Khomas Hochland mountains. A beautiful drive with fantastic scenery and viewpoints.
Different well-marked day hiking trails from 1 hour to 6 hours, weekend trails and long distance trails up to 6 days.
Start your trip through Namibia with a few days of riding here on our farm. We also have special packages.
On a game drive in our private game park “Otjihorongo”, you see various game species. This activity takes approximately 2h. Sundowner drink is included.
