In general the process for a new passport ranges from 2 – 4 months. However, the speed at which your papers will be processed depends greatly on your ability to furnish the Embassy with all the proper documents.

How much does it cost to get a passport in Namibia?

The e-passport will cost N$160 for the time being, until government gazettes the new fee of N$200, which was approved by Cabinet last year. The new passport places Namibia amongst countries which are issuing biometric passports as per the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (Icao).

How to Get a Passport in Namibia

NB: APPLICATIONS FOR PASSPORT RENEWALS ARE URGED TO APPLY WELL IN ADVANCED, AT LEAST 6 MONTHS PRIOR TO EXPIRY DATE!!!

All applications must be made in person, without exception.   

All applicants 14 years and above are required to sign their applications in front of a Commissioner of Oath at the High Commission of the Republic of Namibia.

Furthermore, kindly TAKE NOTE that all Namibian nationals above the age of 16 are required to have the National Identity Card when applying for a Passport.

First time National ID card applications must be applied in person, in Namibia. For further information kindly visit http://www.mha.gov.na/web/mhai/identity-documents.

If your National ID Card/Birth Certificate/Citizenship is lost or damaged you are required to apply for duplicates of the said documents before you can apply for a Namibian Passport.

There is no online application form.

The Consular Section is open from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday to Thursday ONLY!!.

REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENTS FOR A NEW NAMIBIAN PASSPORT

  • Duly filled-in application form. (Forms are only available at the High Commission.)
  • Two identical colour passport-size photos, signed by the Applicant on the back.
  • A good quality photocopy of the personal page of your current passport.
  • A good quality photocopy of your Namibian Birth Certificate.
  • A good quality photocopy of both sides of your Namibian Identity Document (ID).
  • A good quality photocopy of your Namibian Citizenship Certificate (if an applicant was born outside Namibia).
  • A good quality photocopy of your Marriage Certificate (if applicable).
  • Proof of payment receipt/print out of receipt (online payments) (see FEES below)
  • A copy of the Divorce certificate when changing to maiden name.
  • If your passport is lost or stolen, you must report this to your local police. You should obtain a document from them to say that the passport has been reported missing, and submit this document when you apply for a new passport. (Metropolitan police do not issue lost property reports, but done online at https://www.reportmyloss.com/uk/register
