Question: How long is the Bachelor’s degree?

The Bachelor’s degree NQF level 7 in any of the following disciplines namely Accounting and Finance, Human Resource Management, Business Administration and Information Technology is offered as a 3-year degree programme with two lower exit points as follows:

  • A learner who successfully completes the first year and exits from the programme at that point, will be awarded a Diploma NQF Level 5 in their field of study
  • A learner who successfully completes Year 2 and exits from the programme at that point, will be awarded a Diploma NQF Level 6 in their field of study
  • Third year (top up) constitutes the final year of the Bachelor degree NQF level 7. A learner who successfully completes Year 3 (final year) will be awarded a Bachelor degree NQF Level 7 in their field of study.

Question: How long is the Bachelor’s Honours Degree?

  • Upon successful completion of the Bachelor degree, NQF Level 7, candidates can proceed to a Bachelor honours degree, NQF Level 8 (1 year programme)

Question: What are the entry requirements for the Bachelor’s degree NQF level 7

THE ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR THE BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAMME ARE GIVEN BELOW:

A Senior Secondary School leaving Certificate (Ordinary or Higher level or a combination of both) or an equivalent qualification:

  • Applicants must have obtained a minimum of 20 points to be admitted to the 3-year degree programme. Such applicants will not be required to complete the Certificate NQF Level 4 at International Training College-Lingua. These candidates will commence their studies in their field of study at NQF Level 5.
  • Upon successful completion of the first year, successful candidates will be awarded the Diploma NQF Level 5 in their field of study and may proceed to the Diploma in NQF Level 6 at International Training College-Lingua or at other accredited institutions of Higher Learning.
  • Upon successful completion of the second year of the Bachelor’s programme, successful candidates will be awarded the Diploma NQF Level 6 and may proceed to the final year of the Bachelor NQF Level 7 of International Training College –Lingua.

The Certificate in Business Administration NQF Level 4 obtained at International Training College-Lingua or the equivalent thereof:

Applicants who have obtained less than 20 points in Senior Secondary School leaving Certificate (Ordinary or Higher level or a combination of both) or an equivalent qualification:

  • Applicants, who have obtained points, may be admitted to the 4-year degree programme, starting with the Certificate NQF Level 4 as a foundation course.
  • Candidates under this category should complete the Certificate NQF Level 4 (one year) in their field of study. Upon successful completion of the Certificate in Business Administration NQF Level 4, successful candidates can proceed to the Diploma in Business Administration NQF Level 5 of International Training College – Lingua (year one of the Bachelor degree NQF level 7).
  • Upon successful completion of the second year, successful candidates will be awarded the Diploma in Business Administration NQF Level 6 and may proceed to the final year of the Bachelor in Business Administration NQF Level 7 of International Training College –Lingua.

The NQF credits for the Bachelor Business Administration NQF Level 7 will be calculated taking into consideration only the Diploma in Business Administration NQF Level 5, the Diploma in Business Administration NQF Level 6 + the final year (top-up) of the Bachelor in Business Administration NQF Level 7 (The credits for the Certificate in Business Administration NQF Level 4 will not count towards the credits for this qualification and will only be considered a stand- alone qualification).

The admission criteria for the Bachelor’s honours degree programme are given below:

  • Entry requirements to the Bachelor (Honours) degree, NQF Level 8 shall be a Bachelor degree (NQF Level 7) or equivalent, obtained from any recognized institution.
  • Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) degree, NQF Level 8, candidates can proceed to a master’s qualification NQF Level 9 in business or related field, of any recognized institution.

OTHER ADMISSION CRITERIA

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

The Bachelor degree programme NQF Level 7 makes provision for prior learning to be recognised if a learner is able to demonstrate competence in the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes embedded in this qualification.

  • RPL for formal learning (Credit recognition):

Candidates may apply for credits or exemptions for subjects already passed at International Training College-Lingua or at other recognized Institution.

  • RPL for informal and non-formal learning:

Skills, knowledge and experience for competencies gained elsewhere, for example in the workplace are also evaluated in the RPL process as per Recognition for Prior Learning Policy of International Training College-Lingua.

Mature Age

Mature Age (minimum 23 years old) applicants will be considered individually by the Examination Committee headed by the Director of Academic Affairs.

Question: What are the admission requirements of candidates from other institutions?

  • Candidates coming from other recognized institutions will be admitted to the study program of their choice provided they meet the entry requirement. If applicable, credits will be awarded on a course-by-course basis towards the completion of the new qualification. Learners who have passed certain courses may claim credit for these courses. Exemptions in a given programme shall not exceed 50% of the total credits.

Question: What will happen to former International Training College-Lingua students who have completed previous versions of the old curriculum and would like to further their studies in the same field?

  • Learners who have completed previous versions of the old curriculum will not be disadvantaged by the changes in the new curriculum. If applicable, credits will be awarded on a course-by-course basis towards the completion of the new qualification. Learners who have passed certain courses in the old curriculum may claim credit for these courses.  Prerequisites and core modules introduced at a previous level will have to be completed

Question: If you already have a Level 7 from Lingua do you go straight to the honors NQF level 8?

  • Candidates who have completed NQF Level 7 in a particular will be able to register for NQF Level 8 provided they complete the modules/prerequisites outstanding.

Question: Are the course outlines and syllabuses available?

  • Yes course outlines and syllabuses available and will be provided upon registration

Question: What are the modules to be covered for the different degrees?

  • This information is available and will be provided upon registration

Question: Is the prospectus available if not when will it be available?

  • Yes

Question: Can students get funding from NSFAF?

  • Yes

Question: Are the degrees accredited?

  • The degrees are not yet accredited but are in the process of accreditation. All documentation has been submitted to NQA. The college is just waiting for the audit visit from NQA

Question: When will the classes start?

  • The classes are expected to start in the first week of July (June intake) 2019

Question: Which ones are the modes of study?

  • All new programmes will be offered on Full-time, Part-time and Distance/eLearning mode

Question: Can someone move OA to BA?

  • Students who have completed a diploma in Office Administration NQF Level 8 and wish to pursue a degree will be admitted to the Bachelor of Business Administration NQF Level 7
