About Kinderkinetics

Kinderkinetics is the professional field which, from a health perspective and based on educational principals, aims to increase the total well-being of children between the ages of 0–13 years by stimulation, rectifying and optimization/promotion of age specific motor and physical movement.. It has the following goals:

  • Promote functional growth and development;
  • Focus on certain movement activities to promote/facilitate sport specific activities; and
  • Implement appropriate rehabilitation programmes for children with growth and/or developmental disabilities.

Kinderkinetics training within the Kinderkinetics programme is structured around the developmental needs of children of different ages, since developmental needs and neuromotoric development of children differ drastically at different ages, as well as the programme content that focuses on typical and atypical development in children. Training is done according to the following programme outcomes presented:

Adapted programme

This programme helps children up to 13 years of age with deficiencies to overcome problems with an individualised programme. Aspects such as obesity and specific motor deficiencies, as well as physical assistance are offered to children with specific disabilities.

Pre-school programme

This programme is designed for children between the ages of 2 and 7 years and is conducted in a group setting. The focus is on the child’s gross motor development and the purpose of the programme is to ensure the optimal development of young children.

Programme for the disabled

Water therapy programmes that will be available to, for instance, children with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy will improve their functionality in terms of the motor and physical aspects of their development.

Wellness programme

A programme for older children between the ages of 10 and 14 years that assists in the development of a healthy balanced lifestyle. Programmes are in group format. The aim of the programme is to make active children into active adults.

Baby programme

Importance of Kinderkinetics

If children develop a love for physical activity while they are young, they are more likely to lead healthy, active lifestyles as adults. By preventing and treating factors such as learning disabilities, motor delays and obesity Kinderkinetics aims to improve the quality of children’s lives.
