RUDN- IUM Centre For Russian Language And Pre-Graduate Studies Launched
In partnership with the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University), IUM recently launched a Joint Educational Project: RUDN- IUM Centre for Russian Language and Pre-Graduate Studies.
The Project which comes as result of the recently signed Cooperation of Agreement between IUM and RUDN University, aims at providing a conducive Russian language teaching and learning environment and a pleasant cultural exchange platform for the people of Russia and Namibia.
With the establishment of the Centre, Namibians intending to study in Russia will no longer have to first undertake a Russian language course before starting their actual course of study in Russia. Instead they can now learn the Russian language in Namibia before going for their studies or training in Russia.
In her keynote address at the launch of the Centre, Hon. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, expressed pleasure that IUM and RUDN University had partnered to ease the language burden on Namibians who would like to study or train at Russian Universities. She also congratulated the two Universities for the joint venture which will not only benefit students who wished to study in Russia, but also the larger public who aspired to learn the Russian language for communication purposes and know more about Russian history and culture.
Hon. Nandi-Ndaitwah thanked IUM, particularly for its effort in fostering the internationalization of tertiary education and promotion of international collaboration. She noted that the number of students choosing to study internationally was constantly increasing and, for that reason, partnerships with international universities were essential for the Namibian higher education sector. She also thanked IUM for introducing and offering the Masters Degree in International Relations, Diplomacy and Management Course which caters for both Namibian and Foreign Nationals.
In his address, Hon Dr. David R. Namwandi, Founder and Chair of the IUM Governing Council highlighted that the collaboration between RUDN University and IUM was in response to the clarion call of leaders around the academic front. The mission of the collaboration, according to him, was a sacred one as it revolved around bridging the communication gap between Russians and Namibians- as the two Universities believe that communication was key to human development.
Furthermore, Hon Dr. Namwandi invited the public and private sectors especially business leaders and diplomats who wished to enhance their language skills and knowledge of Russian culture and environment to visit the RUDN- IUM Centre for Russian Language and Pre-Graduate Studies to benefit fully from its multiple and unique services.
