Erongo Marine Enterprises (PTY) LTD (“EME”) is a proudly Namibian registered fishing company, based in Walvis Bay and has been operating in the Horse Mackerel fishery. EME has an exemplary record in respect of its fishing operations as well as its focus on socio-economic investment and development, both regionally and nationally. We are looking for an:
EME – SENIOR TECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT: SHORE BASED
Key job outputs, including but not limited to:
- Ensure that company maintenance philosophy, policies and procedures are implemented and maintained on vessels
- Documentation and adherence to prescribed Maintenance systems
- Ensuring adherence to and maintaining our classed vessels in class
- Ensuring optimum vessel utilization in terms of maintenance support
- Ensuring minimum downtime of vessels and equipment
- Ensuring maintenance costs are within budget; no wastage by engineering staff
- Ensure that Technical vacancies are filled by properly qualified and experienced personnel
- Identify training and development needs
- Assistance and support in learnership programs for new recruits
- Support strategic decision making
- Ensuring the availability and accuracy of maintenance and technical data and information
- Optimizing vessel fuel consumption and energy management
- Ensuring vessel overall technical performance
- Monitoring and Controlling vessel maintenance cost
- Planning, Organizing and execution of vessel re-fit/refurbishment
- Monitoring and recording of vessel breakdown statistics
- Preparation of Budgets : Planned vs. Actual
- Analyze and interpret trends
- Recommend and implement innovations
- Ensure structured approach to risk, environmental audit reports
- Ensure adherence to applicable legislation and regulations
- Recording and confirmation of specifications
- Sourcing of expertise for specialist projects
Qualifications & skill required:
- Tertiary qualification in Marine or Mechanical Engineering (or similar) desirable
- Minimum requirement of Certified Marine Engineer class 1
- Knowledge and experience of Classification Society regulations and requirement
- Minimum 5 years experience in fishing & fleet Technical management at senior level, of very large factory trawlers in particular former Soviet fishing fleet
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Energetic, flexible, organised and able to work in a pressurised environment
- Prepared to travel and work away from home
