Namibia – land of contrasts. We warmly welcome you to Sophienhof, our small Safari Lodge, near the famous Etosha National Park. Here you really can relax, experience the wide Mopane savannah and watch wild animals.
Explore the wilderness and embark on a journey of discovery – by jeep, in hiking boots or by mountain bike. Surrounded by 9000ha of species-rich flora and fauna, you will experience a dream holiday in Africa on our farm : adventurous nature stalking, inviting accommodations and tasty farm dishes. Relax in the pool, at the bar or around the campfire.
Accommodation
We offer the suitable accommodation for every taste. Demanding guests will enjoy our four bungalows with two units each double or triple rooms each with bathroom and small kitchen within walking distance to the Lapa, the restaurant and reception.
In the VIP-house guests with exceptional requirements will find everything you need. Up to four adults and two children enjoy the breathtaking views of the large Paresis Mountains or relax in their own infinity pool.
Campers are always welcome on our unique green grass campgrounds, and backpackers can enjoy a nice accommodation in shared rooms. For groups we also like to provide accommodation in the Belina Farmhouse (about 2km from the lodge
Free time activities on Sophienhof Lodge
Observe and photograph game / birding
Let yourself be fascinated by the impressive wildlife of Namibia: Observe cheetahs, zebra, blue and black wildebeests, giraffes, many species of antelopes (oryx, kudu, eland, dik-dik, duiker…), warthog, porcupine, tortoises and birds in their natural environment.
Guided walking tour
Explore the unspoiled countryside during a walking tour throught the area of Sophienhof – a great opportunity to get to know the vegetation and to observe animals in natural surroundings.
Archery
Another option to pass your time on Sophienhof Lodge is archery. With this form of sport you can relax and improve your concentration at the same time.
Swimming pool
Take time out and relax on the swimming pool. Our team will attempt to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Day trips
Day trip to Etosha
The best way to reach Etosha National Park is the Anderson Gate, which is situated 100 km from Sophienhof Lodge. If you set off early, you’ll have all day to look around. The variety of animals is very impressing. After an extensive tour throught the park you’ll be back at Sophienhof late in the afternoon.
Day trip to Vingerklip
A short tour to Vingerklip is perfect to enjoy the wonderful panoramic view over the Ugab Terraces. Take a look at the monumental pillar of rock, which consists of more than 300 million years old chalkstone. If you wish to, you will have lunch at Ugab Terrace Lodge during the trip.
Day trip to Ugab Terraces
A trip from Sophienhof Lodge to the gorgeous Ugab Terraces at the other end of the farm takes only about 20 minutes. Enjoy the breathtaking view over the whole valley.
Day trip to Otjiwarongo Crocodile Farm
If you want to watch all kinds of crocodiles and take photos of them, you should visit the crocodile farm in Otjiwarongo (distance to Sophienhof: 90 km). There you can learn everything about these primeval lizards and the breeding methods.
