2017 Employee Wellness Screening Campaign

  • Do you remember the very successful Wellness Campaign in 2014 ?  That time 1539 (!!!) employees of MWT took part and got tested on various (lifestyle-) diseases. Everyone received his/her own personal Health Passport.  The MWT management and staff, especially in the regions, were very pleased to receive testing services at their workplaces. The enormous number of staff members that took part in the HIV testing demonstrates such satisfaction.
This time we want to go bigger !

The Ministry of Works and Transport with support from the German Government through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in collaboration with the Walvis Bay Corridor Group and the Ministry of Health and Social Services embarks on a Biometric Screening Campaign for all employees of MWT and of the Public Works and Transport Sector stakeholders in all regions of Namibia.
The employee wellness screening campaign will focus on providing MWT & transport sector employees an opportunity to know their wellness status including:

  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Glucose (Sugar/Diabetes) Screening
  • Cholesterol Screening
  • Hypertension/Blood Pressure Testing
  • Prostate (PSA) Antigen Rapid Test
  • HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT)

Eye vision testing

The employee wellness screening campaign will start in Windhoek (Khomas Region) and run from 30th of October until 17th of November 2017. Other regions and worksites will follow in November 2017, to be continued from February 2018 onwards.

This time around the Wellness testing campaign will not only be offered to the MWT employees but also to employees in the Public Works and Transport Sector, demonstrating an effective and smart partnership approach within the broader transport and logistics sector. The campaign aims to reach a minimum of 4500 employees.
The main objectives of the biometric testing campaign are:

  • To inform the Ministry of Works and Transport and stakeholders in the sector on what interventions they ought to invest their resources in based on the wellness screening outcome.
  • To ensure that individual participants are informed of their wellness and HIV status and where necessary advised to seek further medical attention

With the involvement of the Transport Sector as a whole, additional information on the Sector Health Status will be gathered and awareness on Wellness will be conducted in the Sector accordingly.

We are hoping that you ALL will make use of the provided services, they are free of charge, voluntarily and confidentiality is guaranteed.
