African Desk has existed since 2001 and is an active member of the “Namibia Tourism Board”, a government organization that ensures that services in the tourism sector meet the highest quality standards. The owner is Elizabeth de Beer. The African Desk office is located in the Woermannhaus, the most famous historical building in the center of Swakopmund, a coastal town with 22,000 inhabitants.
African Desk is a travel agency in Swakopmund (Namibia) that promotes international understanding, tolerance and mutual respect with individual trips to Namibia. We convey to travelers from overseas everyday life, culture and values of the peoples of Namibia. As part of “Community Tourism”, African Desk expressly encourages remote village communities to participate in tourism through services. We inspire a lively and human connection between guests, tour guides, farm owners or other local companies in Namibia. We call this “cultural exchange at eye level”. As an intercultural “training on the job”, we train and support our travel guides by imparting knowledge of the country.
