The University of Namibia (UNAM) hosts the 2018 Chinese Bridge Competition for College Students

On 26th April, the 17th Chinese Bridge Chinese Competition for College Students in Namibia was held successfully. The distinguished guests of this event are Political Counselor Li Nan from the Chinese Embassy in Namibia, Pro-Vice Chancellor: Research, Innovation & Development, Professor Kenneth Matengu, staff from Chinese Embassy and UNAM, and representatives from Chinese companies.

After a heated competition among 9 contestants between student from the Main Campus and Hifikepunye Campus, Loide Matheus, Chinese name BaiXue, a junior psychology student from the Main Campus won the first position by her fluent One World One Family speech, knowledge about Chinese culture and excellent Taichi performance. And she is able to represent Namibia as she takes part in the Final Competition in China. Also, Natacha van Wyk, Chinese name Wan Ziyu, a psychology freshman who has just learnt Chinese for 2 months, won the second position, and she will also be going to China to view and emulate the final Competition. Both of them are offered flight tickets and covered expenses in China by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, Hanban. Furthermore, after the final they have the chance to study Chinese in China with a scholarship. Best wishes to them.

All UNAM students are welcomed to join in the Confucius Institute, to learn Chinese language and culture! Chinese is offered at the following UNAM Campuses: Hifikepunye Pohamba, Rundu, Khomasdal and Main Campus.
