List of Namibia Institute of Architects Courses Offered

NIA Namibia Courses Offered

2010 marked the year in which the first Namibian architectural program was established at the then Polytechnic of Namibia (PoN) in Windhoek, as an independent Department of the School of Engineering. Inherited originally from Tshwane University of Technology, the curriculum has been thoroughly revised and adapted to the Namibian context in 2011, before being approved by the PoN Senate and endorsed by Namibia Council of Architects and Quantity Surveyors NCAQS. It is currently in the process of registration by the Namibia Qualifications Authority NQA.

A Bachelor of Architecture degree is the first exit level after three years of study, which includes one semester of Work Integrated Learning in an architectural office and a mini-thesis design project in the 6th and final semester.

The subsequent one-year Bachelor of Architecture Honours degree includes a thesis design project in its second semester.

The Department aims at mounting a Master of Architecture programme in the near future, to enable graduates to become fully-fledged registered architects in Namibia after the mandatory period of industrial experience and success in NCAQS professional practice examination.
