The name ‘Namib’ translates as “vast place”, which is apt given Namibia is one of the least crowded destinations on the planet. We take conservation seriously, therefore more than 40 percent of our country is under conservation management. Namibia is also home to the oldest desert in the world, the Namib Desert, which, at 80 million years old, is the most ancient desert on the planet. Within this desert, we also lay claim to the highest sand dune in the world. Dune 7, rising dramatically from the Namib Desert, the impressive mound – reportedly tops out at 388m.
