NUST Seminar On Should more young people choose Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instead of going to University?

The lecture will set out some potential policy and system options. In looking at these options, the lecture will identify the possible benefits and disadvantages of different models. It will provide the opportunity to reflect on whether a more radical and strategic approach could improve education and training and better support economic growth.
The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and debate the following:

  • Is it a good idea to encourage all young people to go to university?
  • What does good TVET look like?
  • Should we seek parity of esteem between TVET and ‘academic’ routes?
  • How can countries ensure that their young people are best prepared for the labour market?
