About COSDEF

COSDEF (Namibia Community Skills Development Foundation) is a registered Trust co-ordinating the activities of the network of Community Skills Development Centres (COSDECs), BD Centres and Arts and Craft Centre, providing competence based skills training to out-of school youths and disadvantaged communities throughout Namibia, to enable them to participate in gainful economic activities.

The Support Unit (SU) is the administrative and implementing Secretariat of the Foundation, providing the policy framework, quality assuring program standards, as well as providing administrative and financial support and oversight to the COSDECs.

The foundation is seeking qualified and motivated individuals for the following Trainer position which have arisen at the below centre:

TRAINER: Joinery and Cabinet Making (COSDEC Tukurenu, Rundu)

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

∙Grade 12 or equivalent school leaving certificate;

1. A nationally recognised trade/technical qualification, at NQF Level 3, N3 or equivalent in the Joinery and Cabinet Making occupation;

2.Possession of, or studying towards the VET Trainer Certificate or equivalent Education, Training and Development (ETD) qualification;

3.At least 2 years’ relevant industry work and/or training experience in the Joinery and Cabinet Making industry;

4.1-2 years’ experience as a Trainer in a vocational/skills training or youth training institution;

5.Experience working with out of school youths and/or youth from underprivileged backgrounds.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

1.Deliver NQF levels 1 and 2 course modules to trainees in the relevant occupational area, based on the national Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curricula towards meeting National Qualifications Framework (NQF) registered unit standards, and qualifications;

2.Monitor trainees’ performance and progression through formative and summative assessments and record keeping thereof in conformity with national assessment arrangements for TVET;

3.Supervise trainees during both institutional training and job attachment periods and maintain records and report on trainees’ progression in these activities;

4.Maintain monthly inventory and stock control records and safeguarding of training tools, equipment and all other assets under their control;

5.Ensure compliance of course training delivery and assessment plans with Foundation and centre approved budgets and resource management guidelines;

6.Comply with health and safety policies and trade specific environmental awareness requirements;

7.Provide quarterly progress reports on trainees’ attendance, progression, retention and completion.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1.Be Namibian citizen;

2.Be computer literate in the Microsoft Office suites;

3.Have a valid driver’s license or be prepared to obtain such within three (3) months from date of appointment;

4.Be Self-motivated and results driven;

5.Be able to work with people from varied cultural and professional backgrounds;

6.Be fluent in English and at least one of the local languages spoken within the catchment areas of the centre they are applying for.
