1. Emergency Care (Paramedics) Application

  1. Emergency Care Practitioner (ECPB) – Basic (6 week course)
  2. Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP IN) – Intermediate (17 week course)

The goal of the BLS for Healthcare Providers Course is to train participants to save lives of victims of cardiac arrest through high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The AHA designed the course to prepare healthcare professionals to know how to perform CPR in- and out-of-hospital settings. This course comprises of 36 modules and teaches the skills of CPR and Choking for victims of all ages, including ventilation with barrier devices, pocket masks, bag-valve-mask devices with supplemental oxygen, and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).

Duration: 5 – 6 Hours

Certification: Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (BLS HCP) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) valid for two (2) years, with a CPD certificate accredited by the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA) for 16 CEU’s

2. Firefighting Course Application

The Basic Fire Fighting Course is also recommended to companies. As a one day course it is accredited by the Ministry of Labour. The outcome serves to recognise and act immediately during a fire emergency and evacuation. Candidates will complete a practical skill on how to handle a Fire Extinguisher. Candidates who complete the course receive a certificate for 2 years.The Basic Fire Fighting Course is designed to inform and educate the public regarding fire components, its extinguishment and the evacuation of a building. The course is presented towards the objectives to achieve a theoretical background and practical application in the field with no practical or written assessment.

Our Basic Fire Fighting Course covers the following topics:

  • What is Combustion
  • Causes of Fire
  • The Fire Tetrahedron
  • Ways of heat transmission
  • Fire spread through position
  • Fire development (Introduction of the 5 stages)
  • Products of combustion
  • Methods of Fire Extinguishment
  • Classes of fire (A,B,C,D&K)
  • Fire Extinguisher symbols
  • Types of fire extinguisher (Water, Dry Chemical, Carbon Dioxide, Foam)
  • The use of a fire extinguisher (In detail discussion of the PASS system)
  • The use of a hose reel in the applicable classes of fire
  • How to alert the Emergency Services
  • Introduction Building evacuation procedures and reaction
  • Practical demonstration of the correct use of a fire extinguisher

High / Low Angle Rope Technique


The High / Low Angle Rope Techniques Course is designed to inform and educate the public regarding Rope Techniques used outdoors being it through mountaineering, cave diving or simple rappelling.

The course is presented towards the objectives to achieve a theoretical background and practical application in the field. The student may choose between an ATTENDANCE certificate (with practical assessment but no written assessment) or COURSE certificate (with practical and written assessment).

Our High / Low Angle Rope Techniques course covers the following topics:

Theoretical:

  • Standard roping terminology
  • Personal Safety Equipment
  • Function, Preparation and Safe use of Ascent and Descent equipment
  • Safety at a topographical area involving a steep slope or cliff
  • Construction of Rope with advantages and disadvantages
  • Care and Maintenance of kern mantle ropes
  • Construction of different knots and characteristics

Practical:

  • Demonstrate the knots required for descending / ascending
  • Demonstrate the safe use of all equipment
  • Demonstrate the safe execution of a personal decent
  • Demonstrate different belay techniques
  • Demonstrate the safe execution of a personal ascent
  • Demonstrate competence in overall practical application
